Computer Coding

"Coded Girls" is one of our core educational equity initiatives, designed to provide vulnerable schools and underserved children (especially girl) with the tools, training, and exposure needed to thrive in a digital world.

In many rural communities across Africa, schools struggle with a lack of basic infrastructure, no access to computers, and little to no digital literacy among teachers and students. As a result, children in these areas are cut off from opportunities in technology—a sector that is shaping the future.

Computer Coding Program: Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Africa

Understanding the Challenge: Technology Gaps in Rural Schools

Our first step is to listen and learn. Through field visits, consultations with school administrators, and conversations with teachers and parents, we’ve gained first-hand insight into the barriers rural schools face:

  • Outdated or non-existent IT equipment

  • Teachers without training in computer science or digital tools

  • Gender-based disparities in access to STEM education

  • Low awareness of the relevance and potential of computer programming

These findings have shaped a grassroots approach that starts with building capacity from the ground up.

Our Approach: Equipping and Empowering Through Technology

Through the “Coded Girls” program, we partner with local schools to:

  • Provide computers, internet-enabled devices, and solar-powered equipment where needed

  • Supply engaging, age-appropriate coding curricula and educational materials

  • Train teachers to effectively teach computer programming and integrate digital tools into the classroom

  • Create safe and inclusive spaces that encourage girls to explore and excel in technology

This hands-on support ensures that schools are not only equipped, but also empowered to sustain digital education long after initial setup.

Our Vision: Code for Change

The goal of this program is not just to teach code—it’s to unlock potential, spark innovation, and break cycles of poverty. By introducing coding at an early age, we aim to:

  • Inspire a new generation of tech-savvy learners in rural African countries

  • Promote gender equity in STEM, giving girls the confidence and tools to lead

  • Enhance teacher capacity to foster future-ready classrooms

  • Build a sustainable model that can be replicated in other vulnerable communities

"Coded Girls" is more than a program, it’s a movement to ensure that no child is left behind in the digital age.
